Overview

While a doctor or optometrist could use this app to test visual acuity of a patient, you can surely use this app for your family members and friends etc., and there are many resources to tell you how to carry out the test though with charts in print, however, the practices are similar and the way of scoring is the same.

Remarks:

While this app generates optotypes with precision similar to or even better than charts in print, however, it cannot replace doctors and optometrists who would carry out professional and comprehensive tests for your eyes. While you are not going to see an optometrist frequently, however, you can test your visual acuity frequently with this app. For example, if you have young children to take care of, you may test their visions at least monthly. And at early sign of vision problem, you can take preventive measures before approaching an optometrist or doctor.

Auto Scoring

Pressing this Play button, you starts recording the responses from the "patient".

Snellen Chart

Swipe right to mark correct answer from the "patient", and swipe left to mark wrong answer, while the app is counting. 

The app starts from current row and enumerate up to 10 optotypes before moving to next row with smaller optotypes. The test is finished when there are more than 2 wrong answers in the same row or the last row is done.

If the "patient" could not see current optotype and would not give a random answer, you may mark a wrong answer through swiping left.

Tumbling E Chart

Swipe left, up, right or down mimicking what the patient could recognize and respond, while the app is counting correct and wrong answers. For example, when the limbs of the E iare pointing left, and the patient is stating right, you should swipe right.

Landolt C Chart

Swipe left, up-left, up, up-right, right, down-right or down mimicking what the patient could recognize and respond, while the app is counting correct and wrong answers.

Hints

During testing, you may press the Pause button in order to pause the test. During the pause, you may swipe up or down to swith to upper row or lower row, right or left to next optotype and prior one in the same row. Then you may press the Play button to continue.

Sometimes you may want to do the scoring by yourself, so you may swipe up or down to swith to upper row or lower row, right or left to next optotype and prior one in the same row. And you may press the [+] button to switch to upper row and the [-] button to lower row. The [->] button is for moving to next optotype in the same row.
